So why I run....
to be able to breathe, to not to drink too much, to stay sane, with a mother with mid-stage Alzheimer’s and a partner with social anxiety disorder and the depression associated with it all manifesting itself with OCD, it really does help, it was just one of those nights I will probably pull this in the AM

Return to the scene of the collapse!
Finished the year with a 10 mile run around Falmouth and Woods Hole and back! including 2 times on the the hilly section of the Cape Cod Marathon and the hill that finished me off, we have lots of mutual respect now. 19.5 miles in 2 days not a bad way to close out 2010. Movie and dinner next up. Martinis earned! Happy New Year to my fellow tumblrs and fitblrs!

Finally Back
i hadn’t run sine the 19th, 15k, 35 degrees no wind a great day for a run, so 9.5 miles felt good. Lots to tell, a bit of the flu, a week of being sick, maybe even a touch of stomach flu, a 180 mile drive though trying to outnrun the blizzard from NYC to Boston, 7.5 hours for a 4 hour drive, all to be with my partner who was already in Boston. then another 80 miles to where we stay on Cape...

Last race of the year....
This morning was the NYRR Ted Corbitt 15k, in Central Park. I got a PR 1:22:08, 8:50 pace. It was a little slower than I planned but then I did have conflicting goals this AM, I wanted to run home after the race, another 6 miles and I guess I went a little less than all out, but did the last 1.3 miles at 8:36 pace so negative mile at the end made me happy. I did manage to run an extra 2.3 miles...

Could have done way more but..
Smooth and easy, at the end of the 5 miles I really wanted to do more. But with tomorrow’s 15k race and maybe running home after 15+miles I figured I would save it for an all out run tomorrow ;) I can feel strength and endurance building, good since Miami is another week closer.

At 4:03 AM I knew I was swapping off days
No, not hung over, just a long week and the thought of running this morning just wasn’t appealing. I will do 5 miles tomorrow and between 9.3 and 15 Sunday. 15k race and almost 6 running home. The really good news my legs felt really loose this AM as I walked to the subway. The way they felt right before I got injured. Now it’s just the count down to Miami.

Great 5 miles this AM!
Solid run this morning Good speed the last 2 miles. This will be a hard workout week to catch up a little. Hopefully work isn’t too stressful and I get some sleep too. Am I asking for too much?

Making up for missing a day or 2
Mission accomplished today, well almost, 60 minutes on the elliptical,800 calories, 45 minutes on video spinner, 500 calories, good hard workout. Not quite the 15+ miles I wanted but still good. And I will make up for the missed day last week, Christmas party this week. I got the shopping done too! Not done but made a big dent in it. A few people will be happy! I set the goal for this coming...

So I was the rabbit today....
my partner and I did the Jingle Bells Jog in prospect park this morning, we agreed be fore the race started we would finish with the same time, he had never run faster than a 9:30 pace. As expected the first miles was slow as we weaves through slower runners. My gamin didn’t start and I was too lazy to take off my gloves, oh well. The remainder od the race was smooth since it thinned out a...

Tentative 2011 Race Schedule
First of all, the new job is going well! Yay! but, my cushy commute is gone, oh well. I have sorted trael to work and home (mostly) and schedule what office to work out of on different days of the week. Tuesday is not my off day from training, leaving the apartment at 4:15AM is a bit much, even for me ;-) but is sorted :-). The days are longer too and my bed calls me just a bit earlier. As long as...

I'mmmmmmmmmm back!
No PR or CR, but a really good run, 10K 54:09 (unofficial) considering where I was 2 weeks ago, I am estatic. I was looking to run sub 53 minutes but that didnt happen. It would have also helped if I set my garmin correctly! I set it for 9:25 pace instead of 8:25! well that will do it, clearly I was not paying attention. So when I thought I was way ahead of pace so I was trying to be careful and...

94monkeys asked: Heh. I've been to a bunch of the NYSCs just out of curiosity/boredom, and because its variety is its strength! There are a few by my office, by my apartment, etc. I could probably write a paper on the various branches' strengths and weaknesses by now, heh. A while back I wrote about a "member appreciation" event at one branch where they were selling supplements (ugh... really!)...

Just one day the NYRR Joe Kleinerman 10k
yesterday I had a nice easy 5 mile treadmill run, 39:38 nothing too hard since I am still being a little careful with my leg but it feels good. I slept in this morning 6:45 AM! Even remembered to turn off the alarm as I went to bed. So today will be most likely an elliptical day and maybe a core workout, and pick up my number for tomorrow. Really have to sit down and look at my training plan...

Sleep Habits @jenney42k

Leading up to Sunday's 10K race
just a quick update before I fall asleep, I am a go for Sunday NYRR 10K in Central Park. Today did 45 hard minutes on the elliptical and all is good, tomorrow is 5 miles not super fast but just one more good test. Saturday wil be a workout and elliptical. Central park has a few minor hills but going to try and PR for 10K I will figure out the pace sometime Saturday and post it. And next weekend...

really, I haven't been slacking Really!
Week 1 of the new job injected a little more havoc into my training schedule on top of my injury messing with it too. but it looks like I have sorted most of it, new gym location 1: NYSC Livingston NJ - Opens at 5AM new gym location 2: NYSC Jersey City NJ - Opens 5:30AM New Driving Route (without getting lost) SORTED and it works what time to get up: 4AM M-F leave the apt 4:30AM (most days)...

Back! And a solid run!
I wasn’t expecting to be able to push it this morning so started off slow and just keep speeding it up! Started at about 10:00 m/m ended with the last 2 miles of a 4.54 mile run at sub PR pace and 1.5 miles at 8:00 m/m! So as long as I am not too sore tomorrow looks like I am back on plan, with some modification, for Miami ! 4.54 @ 39:49
