Back in the gym
4 miles on the treadmill, never old have made the 10 on the calendar, besides didn’t want to push it.
2 mile warm up 19:45
4 intervals .25 .25 .25 .35 @ 7:30 7:22 7:13 & 7:05 -> 6:49 pace
Total 36:12 for 4 miles
Now looking forward to next weekend’s Coogan’s 5k in washington heights!

Off to the gym
Not sure how many miles I will do, no NiQuil last night so I should feel ok. Looks like I only will loose 2 workouts of any consequence, the race and some miles today, I don’t think I a, going to run 10 today.

Surprise surprise
Today was a bit of a lazy day, presidents day, so no work. Finally dragged my butt to The gym at 12:30 I thought it was going to be one of those tough runs since I was dragging and thought I was going to be stiff and heavy legs too. But totally the opposite, a few minutes into the run, I felt strangely reinvigorated, I wasn’t going to go over board and just keep the run under control, haha,...

Just a little tired here, from some damn good work outs (runs) this weekend, plus i changed up my schedule last week a little to accommodate work. but still got in all the miles which were on the original schedule.

NO Race today......
just a great 10 mile run, on the treadmill, i could have been tougher and ran outside in 25 degrees and 20 MPH wind but, climate controlled, 80’s and classic rock music videos. I asked Marc if we could up my miles by a miles a day since i am feeling good after my recovery 2 weeks ;-) now just to not over train.
As far as no race today, i am just itching for a race…..but i will be good...

Training for NJ Marathon officially begins Monday!
I have been good since the Miami Half, runs with some easy miles but nothing too hard. Still did 9 last Saturday and have another 9-10 this weekend.
With 87 days to NJ I am am getting a good feeling about the prospects for a very good result at the marathon with 1 intermediate half in about 45 days. Also I think I will have a more solid base going into the spring and summer, haha and careful...

The Superbowl has come and gone, I had picked my team and stuck with them, not the popular choice especially in NYC. It was not the game that really interested me but it was the team aspect. Last morning in Miami
Its 5:35AM, mostly packed, just need a shower then off to the airport for the flight back home to NYC. After 8 plus days this vacation is over, just about, and i guess i needed it more than I thought. The race was good, a good test, another lesson another step closer. Lots of reflection time.
It will be good to sleep in our own bed. no looking forward to going back to work.

Don't you know, Never, never run in traffic!
What was I expecting? Six lanes of traffic, all with their own gradually increasing speed? Super polite people clearing a path, stepping aside so I can glide by? A special express lane for those of us who started in coral F but belonged way closer to the front? Why the walkers needed to walk 5 abreast? Why did that guy have to yell at his girlfriend after she cut me off because she saw a regular...

Last workout before Miami
Its just about here, Miami that is, Sunday’s Half. With less than 5 days to go, I feel that I am well prepped for the Half. Today’s interval training is the last real running I will do before Sunday, 5 x 3 min at a not too exhausting pace. :-)

This time next week....
it will all be over, the Miami Half Marathon that is! the start is 6:15 AM so a l little after 8AM EDT next sunday I expect to be crossing the finish line. It would have been great to be running the full marathon but there was not enough training time due to that little injury back in october.

Close to goal for the weekend
Finished up today with 6 miles after yesterday’s 11. So 21 for the 3 day weekend. Just 3 more hard workouts until Miami 2 speed workouts and a 9 mile run. Strange looking forward to the speed workouts ;) a bit of masochism I guess or maybe it will just help me run a bit faster.
Less than 2 weeks to Miami so need to start working on the race plan. I think there is just 1 hill right at mile...

I should have expected it.....
Definitely sore this morning, not a fast run but just enough to try and get sore of the soreness out.
20 days until Miami, 11 or 12 days of truing left then taper and relax. Its just about time to plan this race, mile by mile, another course I know pretty well and its flat…..4 easy miles today. there will be no missing of workouts for the next 2.5 weeks….
Surprisingly strong run
Got in an 11.5 mile run in just under 1:52:00. Not bad considering yesterday’s 10k race. Except for the mile over the Williams burg bridge all were under 10:00. Just a nice run around Brooklyn and manahattan?

2012 starts off with an other lesson
As a first race for the the year and coming off an injury, yesterday’s NYRR 10K wasn’t a bad start to the year but once it was over and realized I was not far off my target, it showed I really went into the race without a good enough plan. Originally I thought I would go out at a nice even pace and see where I was at the end. 61 seconds off my PR is not awful but the fact I could have...

Welcome to the Opening of 2012 Racing Season
This morning is the first NYRR 10k of the year in Central Park. I have done all the personal stuff, you know eat, drink, stuff so just need to get dressed now, i was going to make a few play list but, oh well! I am even fairly well rested for a Saturday morning and i might meet up with a fellow tumblr either before or after the race.
Just to make it official, i am going to attempt a new PR this...
